About

About

My name is Federica Scaccabarozzi and I have been working as a professional translator since 2017. I translate from English, German and Japanese exclusively into my mother language, Italian, working specifically in the medical, technical and marketing fields.

After earning my degree in Linguistic and Cultural Mediation and a brief stint in the international trade sector, in 2008 I began working in a translation agency as a project manager, a position I held for almost 10 years. This on-field experience has given me the expertise to handle translation projects from A to Z, guaranteeing speedy and efficient communication and on-time delivery of documents translated to the highest standard.

Work cycle

  1. Analysis and estimate

Every project is unique and should be handled accordingly. That’s why I typically ask to preview documents. Based on your needs, as well as the particularities and difficulties of each file, I will send you an overall estimate of time and cost. In this way you will have a clear picture right from the start.

  2. Project management

Once I have received your confirmation to proceed, I will start the project and ensure that I have any reference documentation that may be useful. It may also be necessary to prepare a terminology database or glossary (which I can submit to you for your review and approval) to use throughout the course of the project. If a project is particularly complex or requires a team of collaborators, I will establish the delivery times of the various work phases.

  3. Translation

It is finally time to put fingers to the keyboard! Using specific software and referring to any reference documents provided (previous documentation, style guides, glossaries…) I will transfer the content of your source text into Italian, ensuring that the terminology and style are in line with the tone of voice of your company and the text’s intended use.

  4. Review

This step involves a full read-through of the translation and ensuring that the source and target are synchronized. This may be done directly by me or, if you request, by another translator chosen by me from among my trusted collaborators specialized in your sector. Reviews are useful for catching any mistranslations or improving style and terminological conformity.

  5. Proofreading

Some details can elude the eye of even the most expert reviewer -- typos, punctuation mistakes, formatting issues, incorrect numbering. To ensure that the translation is perfect even in terms of form, the text must undergo a process known as proofreading (by me or, if you request, by a trusted colleague).

  6. Quality control

Finally, while I do use specific software or quality control lists (my own or provided by you based on the specific needs of your sector), I also carry out final quality controls on the translated documents to ensure that they are ready to use.

  7. Delivery

Once all the controls have been completed, I will email you the translations or, if you prefer to have additional security, I can upload them to a folder on my FTP from which you can download the files with ease.

  8. Final modifications

Whether it’s a specialist translation that needs to be expressed in a specific style or requires a more creative kind of translating, your translation might need a few finishing touches. Would you prefer to translate a technical term differently or make stylistic changes to a commercial document to give it more impact? No problem! A round of finishing touches is already included in my rates.
